Dr. Paul Caito and Dr. Clinton Sugnet
Dr. Caito and Dr. Sugnet are Optometrists in Rochester providing complete eye care services for the surrounding communities.
Drs. Caito and Sugnet provide exams, diagnoses, and treatments of all disorders that affect the eye or vision. In addition to training in eye diseases and disorders, Dr. Caito and Dr. Sugnet are also trained in anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology. With this background, they are trained to recognize a range of health issues; such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes and hypertension.
Drs. Caito and Sugnet work diligently to stay current on the latest advances in eye health and vision care and regularly attend continuing education seminars and advanced training courses. It is because of Dr. Caito’s and Dr. Sugnet’s dedication to continuing education that our Rochester patients receive the most modern and progressive vision care available.
Dr. Paul J. Caito
Optometrist
Dr. Paul J. Caito received his BS in Biology from St. John Fisher College and his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia in 1979. He completed a rotation in Primary Care Optometry at The Optometric Center of Maryland in Baltimore, MD. He also trained in Low Vision at The Center for the Blind in Philadelphia in conjunction with The Feinbloom Low Vision Center. He has been accredited as a Low Vision Specialist in New York State since 1980 and has been a Low Vision Consultant at Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired-Goodwill in Rochester since 1983. In 2002, Dr. Caito was awarded the Visionary Award by ABVI-Goodwill in recognition of his contributions to the agency. Dr. Caito is a Past President of the Rochester Optometric Society, a member of the New York State Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He has been a Clinical Investigator for many major contact lens companies and solution manufacturers, including Bausch & Lomb and CooperVision. He has been an adjunct clinical instructor in Ophthalmology at Rochester Institute of Technology for the Physician Assistant Program since 1996, and a Preceptor for Optometry students from SUNY College of Optometry since 2008.
Dr. Clinton D. Sugnet
Optometrist
Dr. Clinton D. Sugnet received his undergraduate degree in Biology from SUNY Geneseo in 2009, graduating cum laude and was an All American swimmer. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from SUNY College of Optometry in 2013, where he served as his class’s Vice President. At SUNY College of Optometry, his internships included primary care optometry, pediatrics, vision therapy, ocular disease, and contact lenses. He has had internship rotations through the Low Vision Center at the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Rochester, as well as the Syracuse VA Hospital. Dr. Sugnet is a Rochester native and graduate of Penfield High School. He is an avid supporter of the City of Rochester. His interests outside of optometry include staying active and spending time with family and friends. He is an active alumnus of SUNY Geneseo, volunteers at the Strong National Museum of Play as a member of the Play Makers, is a fitness instructor at VAULT Rochester and M/Body Rochester, as well as enjoying being involved in other local community activities.
